If you have noticed that video previews or thumbnails are not visible and instead show the image above when adding a video link from YouTube to a slide in Sidekick Beta, this can help.

This issue typically occurs when the video's privacy settings on YouTube are not set to "Unlisted" or "Public." For a video to display a preview image correctly in Sidekick Beta, its privacy settings need to be configured appropriately.

Solutions:

For YouTube Videos:

  1. Check Privacy Settings: Ensure that the video on YouTube is set to either "Unlisted" or "Public." Private videos will not generate a preview image.

    • Public: Anyone can view the video.

    • Unlisted: The video can be viewed by anyone with the link, but it does not appear in public YouTube search results.

For Vimeo Videos:

  1. Check Privacy Settings: Vimeo videos should also be set to "Public" or "Unlisted" to display a preview image properly.

    • Public: The video is visible to anyone and discoverable in search engines.

    • Unlisted: Accessible and shareable by anyone with the video's unique URL, but not visible in public search results.
